How Can a Dictionary and Thesaurus Help You With Your EFT?

dictionary 199x300 How Can a Dictionary and Thesaurus Help You With Your EFT?

I love language. I love words.  There is something about them which I find deeply satisfying.  I can’t quite put my finger what it is but I love language and vocabulary.  Some people tell me I have a good vocabulary.

This wasn’t always the case!

At school my teachers thought I might be dyslexic.  I had to have extra English lessons at school. I hated reading. I hated being forced to read with my mother, when I was really young. I can’t say I’m the biggest fan even now, yet since I’ve left school I’ve certainly read more books than I did in school.

I much prefer listening to books, be they fiction or non-fiction.  I have always loved being told a story.  If you haven’t check out Stephen Fry reading the Harry Potter series – brilliant.

I still think my vocabulary is pretty limited, but others tell me this isn’t so.

Language is how you and I express our internal emotions verbally to others and the outside world.

But, there’s a problem.

You think you’re feeling X. You say and tap on X and nothing seems to happen.

This is where a dictionary and thesaurus can help you.

Look up the emotion or thing you are tapping on. In how many other ways can it be described?

Dictionary – http://dictionary.reference.com/
Thesaurus – http://thesaurus.com/

Itunes – Wordweb – http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wordweb-dictionary/id309627313?mt=8

Suppose you’re tapping on the word ‘financial’.  This in itself is very vague. You can’t physically carry financial around with you. Let’s get more specific. What are you thinking or feeling?

Cash, money, budget, debt, economy, sales, profit, notes, pound, dollars, millionaire etc.

All of these words will have a different level of emotional charge for you.  Some words you may not want to even face or tap on.  These you certainly need to tap on!

What if you’re feeling angry?

affronted, annoyed, antagonized, bitter, chafed, choleric, convulsed, cross, displeased, enraged, exacerbated, exasperated, ferocious, fierce, fiery, fuming, furious, galled, hateful, heated, hot, huffy, ill-tempered, impassioned, incensed, indignant, inflamed, infuriated, irascible, irate, ireful, irritable, irritated, maddened, nettled, offended, outraged, piqued, provoked, raging, resentful, riled, sore, splenetic, storming, sulky, sullen, tumultous/tumultuous, turbulent, uptight, vexed, wrathful

You no longer have to be politically correct in your tapping. Tap on what you really think and feel.  You deserve it!

You may feel the urge to tap on all of the words that you can find, or not.  It really is your choice. However, don’t avoid tapping on a word because you feel something and don’t want to go there. This you need to tap on!

Emotional Freedom Technique for Dummies

0470758767.01.MZZZZZZZ Emotional Freedom Technique for Dummies

In my recent post, The Top 7 Best-Selling EFT Books on Amazon . I was surprised at the time of writing that one book wasn’t there. Emotional Freedom Technique for Dummies . Many people seem to be searching for it on Google and it is the only book on EFT in my local library. I hear a new campaign coming on!

So : Emotional Freedom Technique for Dummies by Helena Fone (4.5 out of 5 stars)

My biggest gripe about the book would be the use of the word Dummies. Yes, I know it is very good marketing and congratulations to Helena for getting the commission. But, I’ll tell you. You, dear reader ain’t no Dummy!

Even though I have this issue with the word dummy ….

Even though I don’t like being called a dummy… (they’re for me)

The title aside. This book I think is pretty good. As with all dummy type books. The topic area is easily and well explained with clear and sometimes humorous illustrations.

This books is certainly much easier going that Gary Craig’s manual. Yet, Gary’s manual is a manual and not necessarily meant as an easy to read book.  Two different books for two different audiences I feel.  If you’re from the US, you may not like the Dummies book, since it is writing using UK English and phrases not US English.

The best advice I can give is this: This is an introduction to EFT and how EFT tapping can be applied to many different areas and challenges. If you’re coming or new to EFT it is a great start. If you are wanting a particular result and are using EFT tapping as your tool or technique of choice. There probably is a book, CD,DVD etc. that is more tailored to your specific needs.

Have you read it? What did you think of Emotional Freedom Technique for Dummies ?

EFT – 6 Reasons It Doesn’t Work and How to Avoid Them

eftnotworking small EFT 6 Reasons It Doesnt Work and How to Avoid Them

Are you not having the success with EFT that you want and deserve?

I’ve tapped for day, weeks, hours on an issue and nothing; I mean nothing I said or did seemed to make any difference whatsoever.

That was until I discovered how to have continual success with EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique.

What is the secret?

1 Time Only Tapping Only

Beginners to EFT, think EFT is the magic, quick fix, a 2 minute solution to all their problems – large and small.  Sometimes it is. Yet, quite often you’ll need to tap more then once to be completely free of your negative emotion.

Tap 5 rounds on and around what you are feeling. Notice the shift that happens.

Remember you can start your set-up phrase Even though I have this… then move onto Even though I have this remaining… or Even though I still … Say it as thought you mean it!

2.Not Being Specific Enough

Most of the time, you will be tapping far too generally.  I feel this emotion i.e. unhappiness.  If you can’t put what you are wanting or feeling in a shopping basket.  You are not being specific enough with your tapping. – Describe what you are feeling out loud to clarify your thoughts. Grab a dictionary and thesaurus.  Look for different words to describe your experience and emotion.  Imagine you had to write a letter explaining what is going on.

3.Result Expectation

When you tap, do you secretly want a particular result  or ending and it does not happen?  EFT always works, just not always as you expect or want.  Relax!  There are may ways to get an outcome.  After all it is the end result that you want.  Not the way to get there.

4.Not Covering Your Basics

Basic EFT is very methodical and easy to follow for a reason – It works!  If you miss out pieces how can you expect to get the result that you want?  Follow the basic recipe.  Learn what works for you, which are your power points. Then start fiddling.

5.Forgetting the Set-up Phrase

If you do not have what you want.  You are blocking your own success.  Stop! Yes, you are blocking it.  Always do the set-up phrase to begin neutralising your own internal blocks to your success.

6.You Think EFT It Is Not Working

Before a round of tapping score your emotional intensity from 0-10.  0 begin no intensity or emotion, 10 – maximum, feeling it, big time!

Take your score again when you are finished.  If there is no change in score, has the emotion changed in another way? Its shape, location, colour or feeling?  ARe you really tapping on what you are feeling.

Even though I don’t think this EFT is working for me and I don’t know why…

Even though I’m afraid to admit it is working….

Even though I don’t want it to work because…

If nothing seems to really be working. Take some time out. Go do something else. The number of times you’ll hear a word or be inspired to do something is uncanny.

EFT always works!

Have you discovered why EFT sometimes doesn’t appear to work for you?
