End Your Bruxism Hell With EFT

Rsz_bruxism

5 to 20 percent of adults react to stress at night by clenching their jaws and grinding their teeth (Bruxism), are you one of them?

Luckily for me, I only suffer from teeth or jaw grinding infrequently.  Yet, my brother – when he is asleep.  Gee, his mouth sounds like a drill bit going off.  He’s had guards, seen the dentist. Yet, he still grinds his teeth at night.

Many of the causes of bruxism are all in your head and emotionally based.

EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques can help you release all your negative emotions.

EFT works on all negative emotions.  Here are some of the key ones, which appear to cause bruxism.

Stress.

Yes, this is not just one emotion, but many.  By using EFT on the causes of your stress you can release those things, people and places that are causing you to feel stressed.

You can even find relief by tapping:

Even though I don’t know why I grind my teeth or Even though I don’t think I grind my teeth.  Pick an ending phrase or come up with your own.

Anxiety.

70% of all bruxism is caused by anxiety.  Do you have a test coming up?  Whatever the cause of you anxiety, you can EFT it away.  You can tap on anything and everything that you think might be causing you to be anxious.

Resentment.

EFT works really well with resentment issues. You might think of resentment as anger frustration, jealousy, or maybe even hurt.

Frustration.

By not letting go of you frustrations, you actually keep yourself where you are.  You will not move forward, no matter how hard you try.   What would happen if you let got frustrated by your frustration?

Even though I don’t know why I’m frustrated, what would happen if I let it go anyway

Anger.

Anger takes on so many forms.  Physical, mental, verbal and emotional.  EFT can and does treat all of these at any level you want.

Heartache.

This emotion is often deeply hidden under many layers. Why?  Your unconscious mind thinks it is actually protecting you, by keeping this emotion hidden. What caused it. It thinks is far worse for you and it doesn’t want you to experience it again.  How many times have you heard?  Big boys don’t cry. Rubbish.  You’re just not allowed to cry in public.

Fear.

What you think might happen rarely does.  Yet, fear stops you dead in your tracks. Often it will stop you doing something before you have even done it. By removing your fear.  You’ll end up doing what you want to do.  Remember not starting your essay until the night before it had to be in?

What stops you from NOT grinding your teeth?

    Hi there,

I've found EFT to be great at helping with my tooth grinding. My OH sometimes keeps me awake snoring, and I get my own back with the tooth grinding, although I am never aware of doing it. It's tied in with muscular tension with me, and that can be stress-related. When he grumbles that I've kept him awake I do a few rounds of EFT before bed the next few nights and it keeps me quiet. I do need to keep on with it as an ongoing thing until I can have a really good sorting session, but it works very well on an "as required" basis. :-) Much better than using a gum guard – the very thought of that makes me gag!

    Regards,

    Karen

    Karen,

    Thanks for the comments.

Have you tried doing EFT for your muscular tension and possible stress?

Also why not tap for your OH. Not sure how open he might be, but what would be the effect if he actually did the tapping himself? Yet, if it is like my family, that could be opening a can of worms….Even though I have this issue with my family doing EFT…lol.

I think this is perhaps where EFT 'wins' over most other techniques that I know of because you can do tapping for the other or on behalf of the other person, so they change as well, yet it is done ecologically and gradually.

Yet, I've had great success when both parties tap for themselves during the same time periods, since they are both changing and moving forward together.

Nobody is left behind. In certain fields I've seen the divorce rate sky rocket as one person changes and the person is left standing still and not understanding why there OH is exstatically happy.

Lesson 1 is often gaining and building rapport (getting along with other people)….somewhat ironic I think.

I'd love to know what you specifically tap on i.e. phrases etc.

Yes, EFT is better than any guard!

As a newbie to EFT, my question is: what if the bruxism is caused by an actual, *physiological* problem, such as jaw misalignment?

    • Alex,

Thanks for the comment. I would say/ask this…what if everything physical symptom is a manifestation or result of an emotional block/issue/challenge?

Yes, granted this is a huge thing to ask or believe especially if you have never thought like this before.

That is not to belittle a physically symptom. Yet, I think thinking of illness or dis-ease as an emotional blockage puts you back at cause, i.e. you are the one in control.

Often, a physical symptom is the only way, you or your body will get you to listen to it. Does your misalignment give you anything? – A story.

Oh, I can do this because I have…. By haveing this I get…

You could just EFT Even though I have this jaw misalignment and I don’t know why…. or Even though I have this misalignment for whatever reason…

Very often when you EFT on a physiological problem, other things clear up…seemingly all by themselves. The physical symptom is a manifestation of something else.

I’d say try it and see what happens, let us know. Remember EFT always works. Be careful of wanting or expecting a certain outcome in a certain way. There are many ways you can get what you want.
